Dust Collection System, Exhibit Fabrication Shops

New York State Museum, Cultural Education Center

Albany, New York

Sage Engineering Associates, LLP was commissioned to design restoration and exhibit fabrication workshops in the basement of the Museum at the Empire State Plaza in Albany.  Work included construction of a new mezzanine; carpentry, plastics, metals, and paint shops; and specimen preparation lab.  The owner required the dust collector be placed inside the building due to the sensitive nature of the neighborhood.  Sage designed the dust collection with the appropriate safe guards including spark detection and suppression in the duct system, and deflagration arresting system in the collector to allow the indoor installation.
